When It Hurts to Breathe

“At times during the grief process, survivors will be stricken with sudden waves of physical pain, often in the gut or chest, so powerful as to cause them to nearly double over. These will occur without warning and are supremely different from the pain of physical illnesses. These are a reaction to feeling overwhelmed by grief. With time and the proper support, these waves will occur less frequently, be less intense, and last for shorter periods of time.” ~excerpt from Dying to Be Free

When we experience loss, our body, mind and spirit are affected. Sometimes, those effects catch us off-guard. 

It helps me to read about the experiences of others. And, I thought, you might need the information too.

If you are walking through grief, educate yourself. Then arm yourself with the Word of God. The book of Psalms is an excellent source of comfort and strength when we are hurting.

Don’t neglect to care for your heart, mind and soul during difficult days. There is help available.

He Hears You.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. ~John 15:15

There’s no need to shout to the Heavens. If He’s is your Saviour, His Spirit lives right there in your heart. You can whisper a prayer in your mind and He hears and knows your heart’s desire.

He cares for you more that He cares for the little sparrow.  He will hear you. Call out to Him today. Give Him your heavy burdens. Let Him sustain you.

Savor

Matthew 16:21-23

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Quite often, our sin becomes very precious to us. We indulge in it, we hold it tightly to our chest, we hide it, we spend time and energy and money on it. We savor it.

Yet we know it doesn’t please our Saviour.

We ignore His Word when we delight in our sin. We certainly aren’t savoring His truth while we’re enjoying our sin.

I want to savor the Saviour MORE than I savor my sin.

Matthew 16:24 

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

It all comes down to denying self, doesn’t it? Turning our back on what we want and turning our face into His presence.

Closing our eyes to the desires of the flesh, pressing the blossoms of His truth closely to our face and inhaling His Spirit and wisdom from the pages of His Word.

May God grant me the strength to walk away from the delights of this flesh and run into the delight of His Word, His preaching, His church, and His people.

A Beautiful Moment

I watched the Opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem today. It was a truly touching ceremony for anyone who knows the Word of God.

Israel is the apple of God’s eye, and Jerusalem is the city He chose to put His name on:

“…that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.” ~I Kings 11:36

So it was truly touching to watch our Nation and our President honor that city by finally placing our embassy in the capital there.  We, as a Nation, had promised to move the embassy there many years ago. But not until President Trump has there been a president courageous enough to keep that promise.

God promises to seek the good of those who pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.” ~Psalm 122:6-9

It could be that the Lord will pour out His mercy on our country, give us a bit more time to repent and turn back to Him, because of this move by our Nation to honor Jerusalem.

It is a remarkable day in the history of our Nation and our world. I don’t know about you but I’m keeping my eye on Jerusalem even more than I usually do. All of prophesy hinges on that city. It will be exciting to see those things come to pass in our lifetime.
