The Timing of Praise

I was talking about this yesterday with a friend, and I felt I was struggling to express my thoughts. This morning I found the perfect quote by Nancy DeMoss:

My praise of God and to God is so powerful in my own life. It pours out blessings that I’d miss otherwise.

This subject of praise is so multi-faceted and there is much to remember. I’m so glad the Lord is patient with me as I re-learn some of these truths.

A Beautiful Moment

I watched the Opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem today. It was a truly touching ceremony for anyone who knows the Word of God.

Israel is the apple of God’s eye, and Jerusalem is the city He chose to put His name on:

“…that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.” ~I Kings 11:36

So it was truly touching to watch our Nation and our President honor that city by finally placing our embassy in the capital there.  We, as a Nation, had promised to move the embassy there many years ago. But not until President Trump has there been a president courageous enough to keep that promise.

God promises to seek the good of those who pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.” ~Psalm 122:6-9

It could be that the Lord will pour out His mercy on our country, give us a bit more time to repent and turn back to Him, because of this move by our Nation to honor Jerusalem.

It is a remarkable day in the history of our Nation and our world. I don’t know about you but I’m keeping my eye on Jerusalem even more than I usually do. All of prophesy hinges on that city. It will be exciting to see those things come to pass in our lifetime.

Do you know the God of Jerusalem? Is He your Saviour? I would certainly be thrilled to share with you how He can be. Just drop me a message if you’d like to know Him today.

Fiery Storms

“Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires…” Isaiah 24:15

The Lord told the Israelites to glorify Him IN the fires. Not afterwards, when the pain had been removed. Not when they realized the stench of the smoke didn’t even permeate their clothes. Not even when they secured greater blessings after the fire.

But IN the fire. Right in the midst of the heat and pain and soul-searing agony of burning under the raging fire of tribulation.

There. Right there. Before deliverance comes.

Praise Him.

Glorify Him.

God-Kept Wonder

Let the world see the God-kept Wonder that He is molding you to be!

We may feel like we’re drowning, just like those who don’t know Christ. But we must remember…our Deliverer walks on those waves!

Are you feeling the heat of trial today?

Are you drowning under a wave of despair?

He is there with you.

Praise Him!

In Him,

To Encourage Dads

Daddies, never underestimate the power of your influence in the lives of your children.

Over the past 20 months since my dad passed, I have been REPEATEDLY blessed by him:

His wise choices, his financial decisions, his friendships, his prayer life, his stand on Scripture, his ethical business practices, his charitable giving, his believing the best instead of the worst, even his sense of humor.

These things keep blessing me over and over again.

Proverbs 19:20-21 – Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

You may think you are just doing your job today, like always, trying to make the best decisions you can with God’s help.

But those choices will be the stone dropped into the middle of the pond of your children’s lives and the ripples will go on and on and on forever.

Be sure those ripples come from Godly counsel and they will bless your children for generations to come.

In Him,

It Came to Pass

Sometimes, I think the end result is all that matters.

  • Getting out of debt
  • Losing weight
  • Graduating a child from homeschool
  • Attaining a large number of “followers”
  • Beating cancer
  • Getting the promotion
  • Breaking the attendance record
  • Being chosen for the solo in the production
  • Winning the trophy
  • Earning the bonus

But God is clearly concerned about the process of reaching those goals. The final outcome is always determined by the steps we took to reach the goal.

I want to rush things along. I get tired of the waiting. I grow discouraged that it is Taking. So. Long.

I forget that God sees the big picture. He’s in it for the long haul, if you will.

This quote from evangelist Bro. Brian McBride puts it beautifully:

May God give me grace for the journey. May I keep my focus on knowing Him in a more intimate way while I’m pressing forward toward the prize.

And Lord, help us not to be discouraged when the finish line seems oh-so-far away.

I pray that you will be encouraged to use your time wisely, getting to know Him, while you’re on your way to your final goal.
