Today I am Thankful…

…for God's comfort.

I realize that I am a day late with this post, but I did want to include it.  Yesterday was a hard day for me.  I couldn't really put my finger on it, but something was bothering me.

This morning, I realized that I had thought about my precious late friend Gail quite often this past week.  I guess because I celebrated a birthday, and because there were some other little, unimportant, everyday life things that I wanted to share with her.

But I couldn't.  She's no longer here.  So I am experiencing again the loss of my friend.

I spent time in the Word yesterday, took a nap, read 3 (small) books, talked with my hubby, hugged my son, laughed with Isaac's caregiver and went to bed.

At some point between last night and this morning, I realized that God's comfort can come in the smallest, most mundane ways.

Yesterday was a comfort day.  The demands were small, the routine was reassuring and I had time to breathe and think and rest.

Psalm 71:20-21Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

He is a God of comfort, and I am very thankful!

So bring on Ol' Man Winter and Jack Frost!

I am prepared with the

shea-butter-infused,

lavendar-scented,

softest socks in the world, people!

πŸ™‚

(oh, yeah, the Twisted Peppermint lip balm helps, too!)

Today I am Thankful…

…for this sermon.

Bro. Steven Carter's sermon on Bitterness this past Sunday night was the best sermon I believe I have ever heard on the subject.

Yesterday I was Thankful…

…for birthdays!

:)  I had a wonderful day yesterday, and let's face it:  I'd rather have another birthday than face the alternative!!! πŸ˜‰

AND

Today I am Thankful…

…for my church!

What a great day we had yesterday at church!  It was a "fun" Sunday, because it was "Round Up Sunday".  We worked to "round up" all the strays who had wandered away from our "herd".

Here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy:

I am thankful for my church for many reasons, but that main one is this:

You hear only the pure Word of God preached in every service.

We may occasionally hear our preachers' opinions, and they throw in some great illustrations, stories and even jokes.  We have fabulous music and even occasionally we all dress up and say "Yeehaw!"

However, the most important thing we have, and the thing that the most time is given to, is the preaching of the Word of God, the Bible.

Our church is full of born-again, IMperfect people — and that makes it a perfect fit for me!

We are just so thankful for all that the Lord has done for us that we want to come together and worship Him for His goodness; and then we want to go out from our church and share with others what He has done in our lives – because we know He is willing and able to do the same for them.

If you would like to know more about my church, we do have a really cool web site.  You can read about the church, look at pictures and even listen to sermons.

I am so thankful for my church.  It is a blessing that I do not take for granted!
