And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

~Mark 12:43-44

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

~Matthew 10:42

He Hears You.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. ~John 15:15

There’s no need to shout to the Heavens. If He’s is your Saviour, His Spirit lives right there in your heart. You can whisper a prayer in your mind and He hears and knows your heart’s desire.

He cares for you more that He cares for the little sparrow.  He will hear you. Call out to Him today. Give Him your heavy burdens. Let Him sustain you.

Savor

Matthew 16:21-23

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Quite often, our sin becomes very precious to us. We indulge in it, we hold it tightly to our chest, we hide it, we spend time and energy and money on it. We savor it.

Yet we know it doesn’t please our Saviour.

We ignore His Word when we delight in our sin. We certainly aren’t savoring His truth while we’re enjoying our sin.

I want to savor the Saviour MORE than I savor my sin.

Matthew 16:24

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

It all comes down to denying self, doesn’t it? Turning our back on what we want and turning our face into His presence.

Closing our eyes to the desires of the flesh, pressing the blossoms of His truth closely to our face and inhaling His Spirit and wisdom from the pages of His Word.

May God grant me the strength to walk away from the delights of this flesh and run into the delight of His Word, His preaching, His church, and His people.

A Beautiful Moment

I watched the Opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem today. It was a truly touching ceremony for anyone who knows the Word of God.

Israel is the apple of God’s eye, and Jerusalem is the city He chose to put His name on:

“…that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.” ~I Kings 11:36

So it was truly touching to watch our Nation and our President honor that city by finally placing our embassy in the capital there.  We, as a Nation, had promised to move the embassy there many years ago. But not until President Trump has there been a president courageous enough to keep that promise.

God promises to seek the good of those who pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.” ~Psalm 122:6-9

It could be that the Lord will pour out His mercy on our country, give us a bit more time to repent and turn back to Him, because of this move by our Nation to honor Jerusalem.

It is a remarkable day in the history of our Nation and our world. I don’t know about you but I’m keeping my eye on Jerusalem even more than I usually do. All of prophesy hinges on that city. It will be exciting to see those things come to pass in our lifetime.

Do you know the God of Jerusalem? Is He your Saviour? I would certainly be thrilled to share with you how He can be. Just drop me a message if you’d like to know Him today.

Fighting the Gale

He is not the safest sailor who never saw a tempest;

he will do for fair-weather service, but when the storm is rising,

place at the important post the man who has fought out a gale,

who has tested the ship,

who knows her hulk sound,

her rigging strong,

and her anchor-flukes able to grasp and hold by the ribs of the world.

~excerpt Streams in the Desert

My friend, if you are sailing through a storm, be assured that your Saviour is strong, His grip is sure and He will sail with you through this tempest to bring you safely to the other shore.

A Super-Overdue Isaac Update

It’s been a very long time since I’ve done an Isaac update. I think that’s because of a few things:

  1. He’s been doing so well for so long! Praise the Lord!
  2. I started working part time on-again, off-again, and that sort of uses up any extra energy that I have.
  3. I haven’t done any regularly scheduled blogging in quite a while either.

So – let’s remedy that lack of Isaac updates today!

This is a significant month for Isaac. He turns 18 on the 20th!

He has finished all of his “schooling”, meaning we no longer have to send in homeschool updates to our county. He will be considered an adult by all legal and medical entities. Some of his doctors will no longer see him, as they are “pediatric” doctors. His adoption subsidy comes to an end.

Some of his doctors – his neurosurgeon and gastroenterologist – will continue to see him until he’s 21, and we are incredibly thankful for that!

Since Isaac is non-verbal, once he becomes an adult, he needs someone who can speak for him – a legal guardian. Being his parent is not enough – even if you are his adopted parent!

So today we went to our county courthouse, went into the judge’s chamber and petitioned to be his legal guardian. They say it is “merely” a formality, but that didn’t take away the nervousness we felt that something – God forbid – could go wrong.

We thank God that it didn’t! And we are both now Isaac’s legal guardians when he becomes an adult.

Some really interesting things happened today.  The Lord restored something to me (which I will blog about at a later date), our judge gave God the glory for our adopting Isaac and desiring to be his guardians, and our lawyer mentioned that any other work that he will do for us with be of No Charge.

We also found a pretty decent parking space and due to Doug’s long legs, we also arrived in the court house on time! 🙂

We saw God’s hand on us multiple times today. It was reassuring and humbling and overwhelming (but in a good way!)

Thank you for loving Isaac. Thank you for praying for him every time we ask. Thank you for supporting us with your kind words and acts of love.

We are so grateful that he has been happy and healthy for such a long time. He is usually content and settled, with only a few he-man, teenage outbursts to remind us that he has a mind of his own. His appetite is always growing and his sense of humor is still tickled by silly words, loud noises, being ornery, and occasionally, by nothing at all – just like a teenager!

We were thrilled to become his parents at his adoption, and we are humbled and grateful to continue to care for and love this miracle boy-child that God has trusted into our care.
