Managing My Monday

Today’s management looks an awful lot like laziness. It isn’t accomplishing much, and the lack of effort being put into it is appalling.

Because, you see, the best way for me to get this week started off well, is for me to rest.

This past weekend took a lot out of me physically. I had several things on my to-do list and my physical energy is completely depleted.

Since I have an adrenal issue, I have to be super careful to allow my body to get the rest it needs. If I don’t, I have an adrenal crash. Those are painful. And scary. And deplete my body even further.

So to avoid that, I have to rest.

You may not have a physical issue that requires extra rest, but you are human! And that means you must have sleep and rest (physically, mentally, spiritually) every day.

I think we women have so much to do on a regular basis that “doing” becomes a habit. And often, our goal.

Just keep doing, doing, doing.

But are we working efficiently? Is our working accomplishing a desired end result? Is our current project even necessary?

These are only questions you and the Lord can answer together.

But I encourage you to allow yourself some down-time when you truly need it. Reject the lies of the enemy that your worth is reflected by your accomplishments.

Your worth is in Jesus. He gave His own life to forgive your sins and give you a home in Heaven with Him. *That* is where your worth lies!

So my Monday is being managed by my snuggling in my little red recliner and reading a book, as soon as I hit “Publish” on this post.

Maybe you need a nap today. If so, I hope you see what a crucial task that is for your week to go well. Go snuggle up with a book or a kiddo and rest your way into the week.

The Star-Namer

Psalm 147:3-5

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

There are days when our hearts break.

And days when we are deeply wounded.

But the same One who numbers the stars and gives them each a name is the God who heals our broken hearts and binds up our wounded souls and minds.

He is great. His power is great. His understanding is infinite.

UNDERSTAND’ING, n. Knowledge; exact comprehension.

His ability to comprehend exactly what you are going through never ends.

The Star-name is your Heart-Healer and your Wound-Binder.

Think on that today.

In Him,

True Love’s Cost

You know what isn’t getting banned on Facebook?

Bible verses about love.

Taken out of context, they fit right into the liberal Big-Tech & Media narrative.

But the Word has more to say on the subject of love than just pious acceptance and blissful ignorance of sin or wrong.

One who truly loves will correct those they love. If they don’t, it isn’t God’s love they’re mirroring. It’s only a neutered emotional response to the error and sin that is around them.

If our forefathers merely “loved one another”, they would’ve all died in prisons in England.

No, their love was powerful. Their love told the truth. Their love stepped out in bravery. Their love went beyond blithely ignoring the danger at their door. Their love risked life and limb to find a place to worship their God in freedom.

We live in the place they chose. And we are right at the door of losing the liberty they risked death for.

Make no mistake, my friend. If they control our discussion of politics, they will control our discussion of our God.

How long’s it been since your church was open for public worship?

Can we love those who are doing wrong? Yes! Can we love them when they are directing that wrong-doing at US? Yes, we can.

But are we restrained from speaking Truth while we love?

No, We Are Not.

Speak out, my friends! We may die in the battle, but our children may bask in the freedom our defiance brings about.

Just as Christ’s love led Him to His death, ours may do the same; but let us go out speaking the Truth, regardless of the consequences.

When God Thunders

Suffering’s Silent Shout

Gasping, barely-breathed,
My cry reaches the ear of God.
Not by my effort.
I have no words.
The pain has rendered me mute.
My mind knows not what to pray.
I merely groan, waiting,
Hoping, not seeing,
Needing a Daysman
To bridge the space
Between my heart and God’s.
His Spirit within
Searches my heart,
Sees my need,
Hears my cry,
Knows the mind of Christ for me;
And carries my heart’s true desire
To the Mediator who hung
‘Tween Heaven and earth for me.
They know –
The Father,
The Son,
The Spirit –
What I need.
He works all things
For my good.
He uses the pain,
The not-knowing,
The groanings that have no words,
To mold,
To conform,
To His image,
The Three-In-One.
The Godhead.
The Christ Who is for me,
Who freely gives me all things,
Who is at His Father’s right hand
Communing with His Spirit
Who lives in me.
The pain that makes me mute
Begins His glory in me.
The tribulation cannot separate me from Him.
My cries are not unheard.
When I can only groan,
The Triune God
Thunders on my behalf.

Pursuing Peace

Pursue Peace
(Psalm 34:14)

Oh give me the quiet that seeps into my soul,
Where no voice is speaking,
No pictures are streaming,
No jets are screaming as they split the sky so vast.

Oh give me the peace that pours over my heart,
Where no politicians are declaring,
No car horns are blaring,
No bluetooth is pairing as it connects to the net at last.

Oh give me the rest that flows into my brain,
Where no thought is criticizing,
No greed is fantasizing,
No reflection realizing hurts that come from the past.

I want a hush for my hurried mind,
A lull that refuses to bind
The cares to my weary soul and finds
A calm in the Words of my Saviour so kind.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

May you find peace in His Word today,

How to Decide about Face Masks

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellers there is safety. ~Proverbs 24:3-6

Here’s an idea:
If you are confused about face masks, vaccines and social distancing,

If you are feeling fearful about making the wrong decisions,

If you are troubled by the state of our economy,

Or if you are angered by the political manipulation you see in our country (on both sides),

Go Read Your Bible.
Spend some time in prayer.
Meditate on the truths of God.

It will HELP you.

Because while you will not find “corona” in the Scriptures, nor will you find a step-by-step “how to” on fighting viruses, you will find CLARITY, WISDOM and PEACE as you spend time there.

You will learn God’s mind and heart, you will see His power and His Word will comfort your heart and offer balance to your spirit. Your mind will begin to filter things more clearly, and you will start seeing light where before was only darkness.

Sometimes, God’s will for us personally or for our family, may run contrary to everyone else around us. He may lead you in a way that is not easy or that seems illogical to others. But if HE is leading you, He will be providing for you, too.

But how can you know what His will is for you if you don’t know what He is saying to you?
