Update to Prayer Request

Well, the doctor could not find anything wrong with him, and assumes he has something viral.  If he continues to run fever for 3 more days, then we will take him back.

BUT she could not check the shunt of course (it's in the back of his head, under the skin…here is a site explaining shunts) and so we will be going to see the neurosurgeon next week.  If by next week, the fever has stopped, then that will be a good indication that the shunt is just fine.

So thank you for praying.  His fever is still down, and he has been acting like he feels ok.  We'll check his temperature again, as the sun goes down.  That's when it tends to go back up.

This has been one of those days that all parents of special needs children will understand.  There's a problem with my child, but because he can't communicate with us, we have no idea what it is.  We visit the doctor, and they can't tell us either.  So we wait, and pray that the issue is resolved or that it makes itself known.  However, we don't want our child to become more ill.  Our only choice is to wait, but that is so difficult.

This is one of those days when that digital readout on Isaac's forehead seems like a really good idea.: )

Birthday boy with daddy

I'll keep you updated on how he is doing.

Thank you again for praying for us,

Prayer Request

Hey ya'll…we're taking Isaac to the doctor today.  He's been running fever since yesterday.  Meds do bring it down, but then it goes back up again.

There are so many things that it could be…sinus, ears, throat, g-tube, kidneys, lungs, bladder or shunt.  If it is the shunt, that is very serious.  So since he has no symptoms that I've been able to deduce, please pray for wisdom for the doctor (not our regular doctor either!) to figure out what is going on with him.

I'll be back to update you later, Lord willing.

Thanks so much,
Alesha

Update on Prayer Request

Little Ewan passed away this morning.  Please continue to pray for the family.

Both
the daughter and granddaughter continue to be in an induced come.  The
granddaughter is now suffering from a respiratory infection and has not
been able to have the first skin graft surgery.  This makes the risk of
infection greater.

Our God, however, is greater!  Thank you for carrying these to His throne.

Prayer Request

Please pray for Lindsay, Emma and Ewan Norcross.   They were burned in
a gas oven explosion.  All three are burned 40-60% of their bodies.

They are the daughter and grandchildren of missionaries Jay and Linda Aarseth.  Doug and I went to college with Jay.

I know they would appreciate your prayers.
Thanks,
Alesha

I Think We Accidently Threw “Normal” Out With The Trash

Hey, could you all pray for me?  My back is out again, and this cold
has turned into a major sinus infection, cough, etc.  I have been in
the bed and miserable since Friday.

Doug had to miss 1/2 day's work on Friday and almost the whole day today.

I am going to the doctor today.  I have never, in my whole life, been so tired of sneezing!!!

Isaac still has a slight cough but is feeling all better and back to his happy self.

Fever Is No Fun

Both Isaac and I caught Doug's cold.  We ran low-grade fevers last night.

This
morning, however, Isaac's fever spiked to 104.3*.  It came down
immediately with intervention and is now just over 100*.  He is
coughing and sneezing and just generally feels really crummy.  I'd
appreciate it if you would pray for my little man.

In case
you're wondering our interventions for Isaac's fevers follow the same
routine, most of which has been gleaned from the many nurses we have
had the privilege of knowing over the past years.

We do the following:

  • Uncover him
  • Strip him down to his diaper
  • Administer Motrin (ibuprofen) fever reducer
  • Start an asthma treatment
  • Check temp in 30 minutes.  If it has not come down, or continues to climb, administer Tylenol (acetaminophen) fever reducer.

This
formula has never failed to bring down his fever very quickly, praise
the Lord.  Remember when our parents used to pile on the blankets and
insist that we stay covered to "burn out" the fever?    I am so thankful for medical advances.

My back is feeling some better.  I was able to go to church yesterday, which was wonderful after missing 2 Sundays in a row.

We
just seem to be going through one of those "seasons" here.  It has
happened before, and I'm sure it won't be the last time, either.
Whether it is a time of refining from the Father, or an attack from the
enemy, I know it is still in God's hands and under His control.  I am
trying to be diligent to still my heart before Him, and not lose my joy
during this time.

Thank you for taking the time to carry us to the throne of God.  I appreciate it so much, dear friends.

Feeling just a little bit better today…

But my poor hubby
who has taken care of Isaac and me and the house and the bills and the
groceries and the cooking and the laundry for the past TWO WEEKS – has come down with a miserable cold.

Could
you please pray for Doug?  That God would heal his cold and give him
some really great blessing for his faithfulness to our family.  He is
such a blessing to me every day, but I am especially grateful for him
after the past 2 weeks; and I know he would appreciate the prayer.

Thanks and blessings on your weekend!
