Isaac’s Happy Day

Isaac and Grammy certainly had a happy day together!

He
loves having her here at his beck and call.  She keeps him occupied and
content.  Today she sat reading in his room for a while, while I napped
the pain away.  He just loved having her camped out in his room.

Aren't we so glad we followed the Lord's leading and moved here next door to Grammy and Papa???
You bet we are!
God knew what was ahead for us, and made provision for such a time as this.
He is a good God to us, amen?

How has He provided for you today?  I would love to hear about it.

I went to a chiropractor today.  My SI joint is completely "out".

That's
where I've had all the pain for the past 5 weeks, but over the weekend
it was suddenly much worse.  The pain has been excruciating.
Reluctantly, I agreed with my doctor to take some medications for it.
Then today I was able to get to the chiropractor.

I will be
going back to the chiropractor several times to try to adjust it back
into place.  It is going to be a painful process, but I can't continue
being unable to walk more than a few feet at a time.

Praise the
Lord they had an opening for me, and that we had the money to pay for
today's visit.  God is merciful and gracious, even while we're walking
through the valley.

Doug and Isaac are doing well.  It is still
raining every day.  Our little pepper plants are doing great, but we're
a bit worried about the tomato plants.  No tomatoes yet.

And courtesy of my gardenia plant, here's a pic of my favorite way to enjoy those fragrant blossoms:

Floating in a crystal bowl of water.  The house smelled beautiful for days.

Blessings to you,
Alesha

From Tribulation to Hope

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:3-5

It
has been a long 4.5 weeks.  I don't really know if my back is getting
better or worse.  I try to increase my activity every day, but that
tends to set me back the day after.  So I'm just continuing to take
everything reeeeeeally slowly.  Hopefully, soon, I will begin to see some progress.

Today
I was blessed by a visit from my oldest younger brother.  He came for
his birthday present (yesterday) and to bring Isaac's present (birthday
#9 tomorrow!).  We had a really nice visit, which we don't get a chance
to do very often.  Then Doug came home and after a bit, we were blessed
to have my youngest younger brother drop in for a bit too.  It was so
nice!

My
hubby was able to go out to a work function this evening.  Here he is,
looking all handsome and vice-principal-esque. (minus those 50
pounds!!!)

And
if you look at the jewelry form to his right, you'll see that necklace
I've been working on.  After I took the picture, I thought "Wow!  It
looks so pretty sitting right there!"

Isaac's
birthdays usually hit me pretty hard.  It is a common theme among
parents of special needs children.  I was really concerned about this
year. I have been under the weather, so to speak, for so long
physically, that I was fearful that Isaac's birthday tomorrow would be
especially hard.

But God is so faithful.  He sent a precious
birthday card for Isaac from a friend yesterday.  It was so sweet it
made me cry.  (Thank you, friend!)  Then the unexpected company today
was an added blessing.  I will still have to be home alone tomorrow
while Doug takes Isaac to therapy, which makes me sad.  But I don't
dare do that long trip – traveling is awful on my back.

I know
that God has not given us a spirit of fear, so if we are experiencing
anxiety and fear, they are coming from another source.  I am going to
choose power and love and a sound mind for the day tomorrow; and I know
it is going to turn out just fine.

Blessings to you,
Alesha

I Think We Accidently Threw “Normal” Out With The Trash

Hey, could you all pray for me?  My back is out again, and this cold
has turned into a major sinus infection, cough, etc.  I have been in
the bed and miserable since Friday.

Doug had to miss 1/2 day's work on Friday and almost the whole day today.

I am going to the doctor today.  I have never, in my whole life, been so tired of sneezing!!!

Isaac still has a slight cough but is feeling all better and back to his happy self.

Alesha

I Think I Can See “Normal” From Here

Official diagnosis…sinus infection and bronchitis.

Script for antibiotic, list of probiotics to get and yogurt to buy…  (gotta love my doctor!!!)

New suggestions for back problems, although no long-term fix yet.

Oh, and for the happy, happy news…

Doug and I have both lost 8 more pounds each!  (that news made the trip worth while, anyways!)

Total loss for Doug – 51 pounds; total loss for me – 23 pounds!

Thanks for your prayers,
Alesha

I Was Hoping for “Normal”

There are some beautiful things happening in my backyard:

My
gardenia bush has 2 blossoms and is full of buds.  I can't wait until
it is in full bloom.  It is in a pot right outside Isaac's window, so
that we can count the blossoms every morning.

Our
pepper plant has blossoms, too.  This is either a red bell pepper or
the sweet banana pepper plant.  I forgot to look at the label.  We
almost lost these to a 2-day storm system.  We are very pleased to see
them growing so nicely.

These are the  "miracle tomato plants"…well, the two in the 5-gallon buckets are anyways.  We did lose
them to the storm.  Their leaves drooped and died, but we left the
plants sitting in the warm sun, and about a week later, new leaves
started to appear.  As you can see, they are not as full as their
little brother in the bubble gum bucket, but they are filling out more
every day.
(Only a retired Sunday School bus captain would have enough bubble gum buckets in which to start all of his tomato plants!!!    My dad has always grown tomatoes in buckets, and the little bucket seemed a perfect place to start them.)

I
was hoping that Isaac and I would be back to our normal schedules
today; but we are still dealing with this cold that we both succumbed
to.  He had a low-grade fever today, and I am dealing with sinus
troubles.  I'm thankful for my NetiPot, and have been using it
regularly.

So, not very "normal" again today with a grumpy boy and a tired achy mama.

Maybe we'll find "normal" tomorrow.  I'm sure it's around here somewhere!

Blessings to you today,
Alesha
P.S.  Oh, my split pea soup turned out to be really yummy.  We'll be making it again!
