I thought
you all would like to see some pics from our trip.

There were quite a few more
roads than we're used to seeing where we live.

100_2906

And LOTS more TALL buildings!

100_2965

See?  I told you!

100_2975

Over by the beach, it was much
more pleasing to the eye.

They are refurbishing
the hotels in the Art Deco District back to their original glory.  Very
pretty!

Could the sky have been
any more beautiful?

All in all, a good trip!

A bee-yoo-tee-ful day
here in the South today!

 100_2879

Isaac had a good day.  He was able to go horseback riding for
the first time in a couple of weeks.  I know it is so good for him when
he gets to go.  He really seems to enjoy it as well.

Work was ok, today – except
that our fax machine/printer/scanner/copier ran out of ink!  Yikes!  And
amazingly enough, we could not purchase ink for it locally.  We had to
order it online from Dell.  Imagine that!  A monopoly on printer ink!

So, I get to call all the
doctor's offices, Early Steps offices, etc. and say "Please send that
fax again.  We didn't get it!"

I am going to be SO popular
tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I learned today that the funny little succulent that I
posted yesterday is called a "hen and chicks"!  Isn't that too cute?
Thanks for the help, Colleen and Shanda!

Here's hoping we all have a
peaceful night's sleep and no new outbreaks of the flu!

We have a family of hawks that nest near our
house each winter.  Sometime in January or February we start seeing
their shadows cross our yard, then we occasionally hear them.

  • This year, they are using a nearly-dead tree
right beside our house as their outlook post.  (It was hit by lightning a
couple of years ago, then the hurricanes of 2004 really gave it a
beating.  It it basically the trunk and 2 or 3 limbs.)

My hubby and I have been trying for days to
get a good pic, but to no avail.  This is the best we could do so far.

    hawk2

    Isn't
he cool – at least I think this is the dad!  They are
so well camouflaged, they are hard to see.  We're going to try this
weekend to get some really good shots.

Doug said he saw one of them take on a buzzard twice their
size today.  And the hawk won!  Just dove right down on him in the sky
and sent him hurdling in the opposite direction.

I can't wait until their eggs hatch.  You can
actually watch them as they teach their babies to hunt – in our
backyard!  One year I watched one of the babies catch what I'm assuming
was a mouse right at the edge of our property.  So cool!

They are soooooooo noisy, too, when the
babies are first hatched.  You can hear the parents crying out to the
babies and then they answer in this high-pitched version of the parents
cry.  These parents work hard to train their hatchlings
    how to live and work.

    Even
when our human babies are small we, as parents, start teaching our
children the life skills they need to survive.  We let them wander
further and further from our nest all the while calling out to them,
reminding them of our presence, of our beliefs, or our foundations.

I don't know why so many parents today think
parenting is easy, and then when it gets a little rough, they wimp out
and allow the child to control the home.  We are not loving truly when
we allow that with our little ones.  We are loving self more than loving
the child enough to do what is best.

Parenting is hard, and it's about sometimes making the hard
decisions.  But it is ultimately the most rewarding job of all – when
we can send them out from the nest and know that they can survive on
    their own.

    The daddy hawk
tends to sit on our back fence while the little ones are playing in the
yard.  He always looks so proud!  The mama is usually flitting from baby
to baby, I'm sure checking to see that they are warm enough, finding
enough food, and reminding them of how to catch the tastiest treat.

We busy mamas need to learn to sit back
occasionally and just watch…and be proud of our offspring.  Take a
break today and be marveled by the miracles that are your children.

I love the nickname's
everyone uses for their children and spouses – very interesting and
creative names.  So I'm trying to come up with something for my son.

Until then…

I
knew he wasn't feeling quite himself today.  Usually hubby and I take
turns going to church if he's not well.  This morning was my turn to
go.  But I just didn't feel peaceful about that and hubby gave me
freedom of choice about it.  (We've been in the ER twice in the past 2
weeks with my son, he hasn't been sleeping all night, and I work
full-time.)

Sure enough we had
seizure # 7 of the past 10 days.  Another phone call to the doctor
tomorrow.  We've increased his meds twice during the past 2 weeks.
Should not still be having breakthrough seizures.

Very bothersome!

We're
going to a specialist on the 26th.  I'm very skeptical that they can
really tell us anything new.  I know God can give them wisdom from
above, though.  I just hope it's not dependent on MY faith.  It is
really lacking that we can/will find a rhyme or reason for these
seizures.

It's a beautiful day,
though pretty cool again for this Southern girl.  I'd love to re-pot
some of my outdoors plants, but it's a little early yet.  So I guess
I'll wait awhile.

Here's my boy on a
much better day in  December.

100_2836

Here's his list of
challenges:

hydrocephalus,
epilepsy, cerebral palsy, asthma, GERD, delayed gastric emptying,
various eye diagnoses, developmental delays, non-verbal (for the most
part – he can say a few words with great meaning - "more", "hello",
"Ma", "wuv", and his latest accomplishment "hah-ay-ooo-uh"
{hallelujah}), and non-mobile.

Here's
what I think about him:

He's the
joy of my heart and love of my life, second only to my hubby.
We adopted him at 18 months old.  Next Thursday will be the 5th
anniversary of his "Gotcha Day".

Here's what I believe about being in this trial:

There is a reason.  Some other doctors and nurses
must need to meet my boy.  Right now, only beauty is helping me stay
balanced – beauty in God's word, in God's nature, in the pics and
stories on some other's blogs.  Those things are helping.

And I am grateful.

Just a quiet day with my
boys.

It was really cold here
(for the South), so we stayed cozy in the house all day.

Remember in the 80's when buttons were all the
rage?  My hubby loved them – he's not a very outspoken person, but he
could speak his mind by wearing buttons.

A week before Valentine's Day, he and my son were
out of town for one of my son's doctor's appointments and they dropped
in a large bookstore.  Guess what he found!  And guess what I received
every morning for a week!

100_2862

Aren't they cute?

I am so loved.

And
blessed.

Praying for all to have a blessed Sunday,
