Thankful on Tuesday

I am thankful…

  • That Isaac has not had fever since Sunday.  (That is after Friday's trip to the ER, his diagnoses of pneumonia, I.V. antibiotics and lots of acetominaphen and ibuprofen.)
  • That Doug only has bronchitis and sinusitis, and NOT pneumonia, although the doctor said he was on the verge of it.  (He is now on 2 rounds on heavy antibiotics, cough meds and acetominaphen.)
  • That I was feeling just well enough from my bout of sickness to take care of them both over the weekend.
  • For my wonderful family who fed us and brought us groceries.
  • For my wonderful friends who kept in close touch, in case I needed anything.
  • That my mom's washing machine is right next door, since ours died last week.
  • That our truck keeps running, even though the "check engine" light has been coming on since Friday, but there hasn't been time or energy to get it to the shop.
  • That God meets every need, in His time, before the load becomes more than we can bear.

What are you thankful for today???

Houseful of Sickness

Doug and Isaac have both contracted the same bug I have.

Ike's fever was well over 103* last night.

We'd really appreciate your prayers for all of us.

If Ike gets sicker and needs to go to the doctor, AND if Doug is too sick to take him (which is not the case right now, praise the Lord!), we would be in real trouble!  I cannot lift Isaac or his wheelchair!

So thanks for praying for us, especially for both of them.  We really need it! πŸ˜‰

The “Good for What Ails You” Smoothie

I am feeling pretty yuck today.  I'm home alone, and nothing in the kitchen looks or smells appealing.  So when all else fails, go for fruit.

"Good for What Ails You" Smoothie

  • 1/2 honeydew melon, seeded and peeled
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 to 1 cup frozen strawberries

Place all ingredient in blender and pulse until smooth.

It's guaranteed to make you feel all better!!!

Foto Friday

Today, I pulled out my ancient stash of material, cut some strips, tied some knots and…

Voila'!

Dogtoys

Dog toys!!!

True – they last mere minutes with our two mutts tugging and chewing on them, but they were free!  The dogs enjoyed them so much, and for those few minutes I wasn't saying

"No chewing the furniture, Kepler!"

or

"No, Kepler, no chewing the electrical chords!"

or

"Kepler, stop jumping up and biting Isaac's toes!"

So, for me, totally worth the effort!

Happy Weekend, y'all!

Thoughtful Thursday

Today I am thinking:

  • I hate summer colds
  • I am SO thankful for air conditioning
  • Isaac has been such a good boy since we have no caregiver here
  • I have only cleaned up ONE puddle today
  • Our pup is finally learning to "ring the bell!"
  • Tomorrow is Doug's school's orientation.  He is very psyched.
  • Buy one get one for a penny is an AWESOME deal at McDs
  • Corrupt local politicians are demanding my time today, and I really don't appreciate needing to fill out paperwork due to their unethical behavior – grrrr…
  • Isaac is talking back to Bro. Lewis on the radio — TOO funny!!!
  • I am loving Doug's shorter hours
  • I am so glad we didn't have to rush the pup to the vet's today when she had a run-in with the big dog's lead line out in the yard.  She was definitely hurt, but was up playing within the hour
  • I am glad we are seeing the vet on Saturday for all her puppy shots anyway, so we can get her looked over
  • I Corinthians 10:23 – "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not."
  • I'm trying to remember that verse when it comes to food
  • I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday…bring on the weekend!!!

The Way of Blessing

This is how God met our needs this week:

  • A family member slipped me a $20 bill in passing
  • I was paid for singing (which I did not expect!)
  • My electric bill dropped $45! (I tried to keep my thermostat 1* higher than last month and it definitely paid off!)
  • I went to a party and was sent home with leftovers (barbeque, y'all – my hubby was thrilled!)
  • My hubby's new job is closer to our house, so less gas being used each day.  He is also not coming home at lunch time, so actually there is much less gas being used!
  • Several things we needed from the grocery store were on sale – bogo – and I was able to use some coupons too.
  • Doug and I both had lunch out and someone else picked up the ticket.

How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!
 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Psalm 84:1-2

~~~~~
 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
