Cousinly Company

I had a little visitor at my house yesterday, while Doug and Isaac were at therapy.

Of course, he did not come by himself.  His mommy, Joy of Case Crossings, brought him over.

This little man, J, is my first cousin, twice removed.

And yes, I DID have to look that up!!!  Joy is my first cousin, once removed.  Her father and I share grandparents. :)  It's interesting how that all works, I think.

(I'm just hoping the information I got from Wikipedia is correct!)

J had a fun time at my house.  Isaac's toys were interesting, the videos and "dbds" (as he calls them) were amazing, and Poppet the bird was exciting!

The picture above is brought to you courtesy of Elmo – still mesmerizing toddlers after all these years. 🙂

Well, "mesmerizing" might be a bit of an overstatement – the above pose only lasted about 20 seconds before he was off to explore other regions of the house.

I just love this age!  Everything is NEW!  The most common object can bring them utter delight.  They want to know everything right now, too!  It's so exciting!

And I'm really treasuring the way he says my name right now:  "'Esha"!  So sweet…and it won't last very long, either…sigh…

Yep, my cousinly company was super fun!  Can't wait to do it again!

I firmly believe that Family makes the best Friends!

Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful family you have blessed me with…may I never take them for granted.

Thankful on Tuesday

Thankful:

That my youngest brother Phillip made it safely home from Tennessee.  It will be so nice to have him here again!

Welcome home, Phillip!

That our God is gracious and merciful and meets us right where we are.

That our kind friend Mike figured out what relay our truck needed to make the a/c come on when the switch is flipped.  We have been lifting the hood and whacking the relays for months now…so it's nice when it works like it should.

For my choir director and his family.  They are such a blessing to me!

For family members who are friends as well.

That the temperature has been in the 80s for two days – such a relief from the mid-90s of last week.

For my day off last week to take a trip to the seaside. ;)  It was wonderfully relaxing and revitalizing.

That my younger brother Michael is celebrating his birthday with the family tonight!

Happy Birthday, Michael!!!

And last but not least, I am thankful for

Birthday Cake!!!

Tuesday’s Tasty Treat

  Yum

Fresh cucumber and tomato, sliced.

Two cloves of fresh garlic, pressed.

Olive oil, drizzled.

Sea salt, sprinkled.

Guaranteed to make your taste buds sing!!!

(Though, perhaps, you should not "sing" directly into your companion's face, unless they partook of  the same dish!)

Enjoy!

Managing My Mondays

I'd like to ask you to pray for Mrs. Julie, Isaac's caregiver and my FABulous helper.

She has been having some health issues lately, and is not feeling very well.  She won't be here with us today, and while we miss her, we really just want her to feel BETTER soon!!!  I know she would appreciate your prayers.

Since Julie isn't here today, managing my Monday will be quite a bit different than usual.  In fact, our good bloggy friend, Cheryl (Copperswife), just did a post over the weekend that addressed these changes in our households when things get hectic or off-schedule.

I know that you will enjoy her post.  You can find it HERE.

You will also find a comment from me on her post.  It will give you an idea of how my Monday will be managed today. 🙂

Thanks for dropping by.  Thanks – especially – for praying for Julie.

Blessings,

Alesha

"The finest jewels are most carefully cut and polished; the hottest fires try the most precious metal.  Abraham would never have been called…"

Friend of God

"…if he had not been proved to the uttermost."

Genesis 22:12 – "And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him;  for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me."

"Perhaps Abraham's height of faith and friendship seems beyond our little possibilities.

Do not be discouraged, Abraham grew; so may we.

He went step by step, not by great leaps."

Genesis 22:16b – 18 – "…for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:  That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven…because thou hast obeyed my voice."

James 2:23 – "And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."

"It is no small thing to be on terms of friendship with God."
