Something New…Yet Very Old

What a wonderful blessing…I have a new Bible…

…one of my favorite things in the whole wide world!

This is only the fourth new Bible I've owned as an teen/adult.  I
earned my first reference Bible at the age of 16, I think.  I spent the
summer painting my dad's workshed in our backyard, and my "pay" was a
brand new green Schofield reference KJV Bible
I was thrilled to finally have a "grown up" Bible.

I bought a smaller
black Schofield Bible while in college.  (I worked in the bookstore, so
I got a discount!)  Then several years ago, I bought a generic burgundy
Bible (still KJV) with no references in it.  That's the one I've used until now.

I love the smell of a new Bible, the feel of it, the cleanness of it.

I know it will not stay clean for long…my goal has always been to
have a dirty Bible!  By "dirty" I mean that I want it filled with notes
and references and marked up places.  I love to see watermarks from
tears and smudges of fingerprints all over it.  I like creases in the
cover and a frayed ribbon marker.  I want my Bibles to be a testimony
of all that God is doing in my life.

I think I'm really going to enjoy this one.  It is a lovely burgundy
color.  (I do like my bible in different colors!)  It is a Cambridge
Bible (KJV).  It has no references and no concordance in the back.  I
would've preferred a concordance, but it wasn't available in this style
and size.  I don't like my Bibles to be too big for my hands, you
know?  I want it to be easy for me to handle.

I cannot live without a Bible.  It is just too important to me.  It is not that I am super spiritual…it is because I am super needy!  I cannot get through a day without some kind of input from this Book that God has magnified about His Name (Psalm 138:2).  If it is that precious to God, then just consider how precious it should be to us.

I am so thankful and thrilled to have a new Bible…but I am even more grateful for the Words in that Bible.  They are not new.  They are ancient and yet they speak right to my soul today; and I am thrilled to know that when I need something for my day tomorrow, this Book will hold the answers that I need.

It’s Been One of Those Days

Did you ever have one of those days when…

…you sit up in bed and as the ache hits your pain receptors, you think "This is not going to be a good day!"?

…you text your hubby at work, only to hear a message "ding" from across the room?

…the a/c that is limping along decides to just lay down and die?

…you decide not to call your a/c repairman (Dad) because he just has so much to do today?

…you go to feed your child, only to discover that he is wet – diaper, shirt, pad, sheet and mem*ry foam mattress?

…you grab the lift to roll it across the room, and it gets tangled in a writhing mess of extension chords, belts and ties?

…the lift pulls the lamp off the dresser, exploding the light bulb?

…the lamp shades breaks into three separate pieces?

…you have all the makings of a "migraine" headache?

…your church friend emails to say that her mother has only a little while longer to live?

…you think to yourself "This has not been a very good day, but compared to some other people's day, I have absolutely nothing to complain about!"?

THEN did you ever have one of those days when…

…your a/c repair man just happens to pop in at his house at 9:30, and will be over in just a minute to check the a/c?

…you walk into the living room to tell him what the problem is with the a/c, only to hear him say, "It's running!!!"

…you put your hand in front of the vents and feel luscious, icy, cold air blowing?

…your mom says "Let's place an order at Bath and Body Works(!!!)?

…your son is so delighted with himself that every time you speak to him, he smiles and "talks" back?

…you have the fresh ingredients on hand to make a strawberry-banana-cherry smoothie for your and hubby's lunch?

…the migraine medicine actually works and you're able to get a load of laundry washed and dried?

…your a/c repairman comes over to install an exhaust fan and an air vent on your back porch, so the wood won't melt every time you run the dryer?

…at the hottest part of the day, the a/c is still running?

…you sit down to count your blessings and realize that even on the worst of days, you have so very much to be thankful for?

Yep!  It's just been one of those day!

Blessings,
Alesha

Just Hanging Out…

…enjoying Isaac's company today.  Daddy is still coming by to feed him each day.  I am still having some pain.

…counting my blessings.  We are well and together and so blessed.

…praying
for friends:  those who are ill, those who are grieving, those who are
trying to sell a house, those who are recovering from surgery, and
those who have hearts broken beyond belief.

…remembering
yesterday's blessing of being able to assemble with like-minded
believers in church.  Never take a service for granted!

…enjoying the beautiful BRIGHT sunshine outside; and knowing that like my friend Mrs. C said, by the time you read this, it could very well be pouring rain!  That's a summer day in Florida for you!

…looking forward to my doctor's visit tomorrow, and hoping that the scales will be kind.

…believing
that the day is not far away when we will all be "hanging out" together
in Heaven, and looking forward, with great anticipation, to that day.

Isaac’s Happy Day

Isaac and Grammy certainly had a happy day together!

He
loves having her here at his beck and call.  She keeps him occupied and
content.  Today she sat reading in his room for a while, while I napped
the pain away.  He just loved having her camped out in his room.

Aren't we so glad we followed the Lord's leading and moved here next door to Grammy and Papa???
You bet we are!
God knew what was ahead for us, and made provision for such a time as this.
He is a good God to us, amen?

How has He provided for you today?  I would love to hear about it.

Birthday Boy

I
know I've mentioned before how difficult it is to photograph Isaac.
These are the only ones I could salvage from the nearly one hundred
that we took.
He is totally worth the extra effort!
Of course, we aren't eating cake, but Papa insisted Isaac have one and they even provided the candles!
We each had a tiny sliver of the Publix carrot cake, then Doug took the rest over to Papa!!!
I
think Isaac had a wonderful day.  He had therapy yesterday, so we did
his cake and pictures today.  He didn't seem to mind.  Doug said
everybody kept singing to him at therapy yesterday.  He loves the
"Happy Birthday" song.
Praise the Lord for nine years of my precious boy's life!!!
