Feeling just a little bit better today…

But my poor hubby
who has taken care of Isaac and me and the house and the bills and the
groceries and the cooking and the laundry for the past TWO WEEKS – has come down with a miserable cold.

Could
you please pray for Doug?  That God would heal his cold and give him
some really great blessing for his faithfulness to our family.  He is
such a blessing to me every day, but I am especially grateful for him
after the past 2 weeks; and I know he would appreciate the prayer.

Thanks and blessings on your weekend!

still here…still in bed…still trying to be joyful

i
did manage to walk out to the mailbox yesterday.  i also changed a
diaper today with minimal pain.  that's a good thing.  i don't have to
call my mom to come over to changed Isaac for me.

so…thanks for your prayers.  I appreciate them very much.

Hey ya'll…we're still here.  I'm having some health issues right now
(same ones I went through last year), so I spent Friday through Tuesday
in or very near my bed.  Yesterday I did go out with Doug and Isaac,
visited my doctor, and sat in the car while Doug shopped a bit, came
home and went straight to bed.

So far, my weight loss is 10+ pounds!  The doctor said probably more like 15 (the scales wouldn't weigh me before yesterday).
But they did yesterday, and I am very pleased!  Doug, much to our
surprise and delight, has lost 43 pounds!  Yay!  Go Doug!!!

That's it for today.  I hope to be back soon.

*Dehydrated Delights*

Clockwise, from the top:  raw sunflower seeds, raw onion rings, kiwi fruit, apples, sweet potatoes, and in the center bananas.

The
onion rings are coated in a yummy, crunchy dip, and taste much like
fried onion rings, only they are raw and healthy! lol!!!
The sweet potatoes tasted rather bland, even with sea salt on them.  The ones baked in the oven were WAY tastier!!!
The sunflower seeds were soaked in salt water overnight and then dehydrated.  Very good for snacking or on a salad.
The kiwi fruit, apple and banana taste really great!  I can't wait to mix up a raw trail mix with these three!

The
dehydrator we bought is quite noisy.  Somehow, I didn't expect that.
We put it on top of the refrigerator for now, but we'll probably move
it out to the porch for the next batch.  The noise is just too loud
when the a/c is running too.

I will be purchasing flat sheets to
go in the machine that you can pour out mixtures onto.  That way I can
make tortillas, fruit roll ups, crackers, cookies, etc.  But who knew
that would be so pricey?!!  Along with shipping, they will cost about
$13 for 2 of the smooth sheets.
And, yes, I thought of wax paper; but I read several reviews that say
it just doesn't work, and it adheres to whatever you are drying.

So,
we'll be experimenting with a few more things, as soon as we get the
new sheets.  Until then, I'm planning some more onion rings.  They are
great for a snack or on a salad.  I think they are my favorite food I
dried, besides the banana chips.  They are my all-time favorite!  I'll
be doing lots more of those!

And – just to keep things exciting
– I went out yesterday with the dog, to pick a few oranges.  We have a
nylon-coated steel line that we clip to the dog's collar when he is
out, as our yard is not completely fenced in.  The line is connected to
the orange tree.

Usually when I walk inside the circumference
of Newton's lead, I step on his lead so he won't dance around and
tangle me up in the line.  Yesterday I forgot.

Apparently I had
one foot on each side of the line, which is a blessing, so when he took
off at full speed, it only caught one of my ankles.  I did not fall down (thank You, Jesus!).
I just hollered!  He stopped immediately and came back to me.  I
hobbled into the house to see how bad the damage was.  The line
actually burned my ankle where it wrapped around, and of course,
bruised it.

Today, it is pretty swollen and very red and hurts any time my skin moves, which is, you know, every time I move.
But pain relievers helped, as did an ollllllllld bottle of Bactine that
my mom had handy!  Thank the Lord that it was a spray, so I didn't have
to touch it.  The burn hurts worse than the bruise.

So, I'm
hobbling around a little, but it's Doug's half-day, so he has taken
Isaac for a ride this afternoon (to pick up meds) and I can grab a good
book (thanks, cousin Joy!!!) and read and rest.

May your day be blessed with a clear path to the fruit trees!!!

We had a nice surprise yesterday:

Doug found out he has the next two days off work, as the rest of the ministry will be closed for Spring Break!

Yay!!!

So, unless something really exciting happens that I just can't wait to share with you, I will probably be pretty scarce for a day or two.

Happy Spring!

Praise the Lord – we
were able to go to church together on Sunday.  It was so nice.  Isaac
started "singing" as soon as we got inside.

He has been having quite a bit
of seizure activity, but not grand mals.  It's more of the smaller
seizures that take him out for only a few seconds at a time – over and
over.  He has many of them in a cluster.

When he's experiencing these, he
doesn't sit very well.  He topples over suddenly.  He also has a hard
time drinking from his sippy cup.  His toungue wants to "hump" and the
liquid rolls out.  We just have to keep at it though and eventually he
can get the sipping part down again.

Isaac's also been staying up and
partying all night again!  Last night he stayed up until 6 this morning!
Then he slept until noon!  What a life!
Seriously, we suspect its seizure activity that keeps waking him up just
as he tries to drift off.

Doug has been reading the info from the hospital
about what to expect when we go.  I'm getting a little anxious about
it.  Not a good state of mind, I know.  I'm going to the Lord with it.
He's working on me.

I also made a really stupid mistake at work the end
of last week.  I wasn't slacking or doing something I wasn't supposed to
do.  I just forgot to do something that was really important.  I just
HATE when I do that!  I want to run home and never go back!  Then I get
mad, and after that self-pity tries to settle in.  Grrrrr…

So, the Lord has been merciful
and given His Word and words of encouragement to me all along and I do
feel better today.  Still irritated with myself, but not dwelling on it
too much in my mind and singing praises to keep my focus on Him.

I guess that's it for today.
Hopefully, something more interesting tomorrow.

Good Morning,

I thought
I'd include a few more pics from our trip.  It was such a beautiful day
and everything was new to me and therefore interesting.

This was the Ronald McDonald
House.  Can you see that someone has painted only one coat of red paint
on a white wall.
This sign was perhaps the most
impressive part of our stay here.  'Nuff said!

100_2899

A little friendly dove
that greeted us at our 2nd. floor window.  He sat there all evening.

100_2910

I was amazed at how far you
could see of this skyline.  Good ol' FLAT Florida!

100_2937

One of the many
gorgeous, palm-tree-lined, neighborhood steets near the hospital.  The
tall spire is the Biltmore Hotel.  It was beautiful.  Unfortunately, I
didn't get a good shot from in front of the hotel.  It was truly
impressive.

100_2942

The gateway to a
Coral Gables neighborhood.  I'm thinking that in years past, this was
the main entrance.  Now it is just one of many.  Pretty though, huh?

100_2950

The construction going
on in downtown Miami was astonishing!

This was a beautiful shot.  I
wish my camera had captured the color of the water.  It was an amazing
turquoise green.  My hubby says this was the most beautiful scene we
saw.  Unfortunately, there was no place to stop to get a better picture.

100_2976

Pretty little side street off
Ocean Drive.  See the quaint ivy-covered building?

100_2981

One last pic to pay homage to
my favorite beverage store!  Starbucks!  Can we say "Cinnamon Dolce
Latte"?  Yummmmmmmm…

Isaac update:  Yesterday Doug
was able to get him in his stander for almost an hour.  That's really
good for us to do everyday, but some days his lateral hamstrings are
just too tight for us to get him in it.  He had a little seizure
activity last night, but slept really well.  He woke up smiling this
morning, but is also having seizure activity this morning.

We're praying for a good
weekend – I'd LOVE for all of us to get to go to church together
tomorrow.
