Thought for Today

Excerpt from Streams in the Desert by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman~

Dear restless heart, be still; don't fret and worry so;

God has a thousand ways His love and help to show;

Just trust, and trust, and trust, until His will you know.

Dear restless heart, be still, for peace is God's own smile,

His love can every wrong and sorrow reconcile;

Just love, and love, and love, and calmly wait awhile.

Dear restless heart, be brave; don't moan and sorrow so,

He hath a meaning kind in chilly winds that blow;

Just hope, and hope, and hope, until you braver grow.

Dear restless heart, repose upon His breast this hour,

His grace is strength and life, His love is bloom and flower;

Just rest, and rest, and rest, within His tender power.

Dear restless heart, be still!  Don't struggle to be free;

God's life is in your life, from Him you may not flee;

Just pray, and pray, and pray, till you have faith to see.

Managing My Mondays

Jn316hrt

I hope you are having a good day today.

Having suffered through many, many Mother's Days while struggling with infertility, I know this day can be overwhelming and painful for those who long to be in a loving relationship with someone.

I really can't do anything to make that pain any better, but I can remind you that Jesus understands your pain.  He can help to ease it, if you will allow Him to work in your heart and life.  His Word can offer you comfort and understanding; and His love can sustain you through even the most lonely days.

For those of you who welcome this holiday, I wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day!!! 🙂

My Monday started this morning about 7:30, when Isaac decided he needed some dry attire to wear. ;)  By 7:45, I found myself flat on the floor, contemplating just what I had injured in my graceful tumble.  I know, I know – how in the world do you fall down on a flat surface???  I don't know, exactly, but I offer this feeble explanation:

Somehow my pajama leg got tucked under my sock, which started my downward momentum, and said pajama leg also prohibited the "grippies" on the bottom of the sock to do their job properly – that of gripping the floor.  I sort of pitched forward, grasped for a handhold, twirled around and plonked.  Down.  Hard.  Quickly.  On the floor.  And then my head hit the gargage can.

Had you been a fly on the wall, I'm pretty sure you would have laughed.

Thankfully, Isaac is very merciful and did NOT! 😉

One of the reasons he may have felt less inclined than usual to laugh at Mommy is that I screamed at him on Saturday.  Really loudly.  When he head-butted my nose!!!  He probably didn't want a repeat of that drama!  I did hear my nose "crack" when that happened, but my former-boys-basketball-coach-husband's best medical diagnosis was "Eh…it should be ok."

😉

It is ok.  I have a slight darkening under either eye, but it just looks like I've been sick for a week or so.  And thankfully, I have some fabulous makeup that camoflaged it well.

So, Ike knows he'd better treat Mommy well today! :)  And he has been…I got a very sweet Valentine's Day card from him this morning. :)  I got one from my hubby as well, along with this cute little guy.

His name's Cassanova, of course! 😉

So, managing my Monday this week, is going to basically mean managing the pain, which isn't too bad yet, all things considered.

Isaac's caregiver is chopping veggies for our soup and our salsa, both of which will last us for a few days this week.  Our dryer still isn't working right, but thankfully, my mom is right next door, and her dryer is working well. :)  Plus, we were able to keep up with the laundry over the weekend, so we won't get behind with the dryer on the fritz.

I will be working on our budget a little later today.  I usually do that job on Friday and then again mid-week, just so we stay on top of everything.  My bank is launching on new website on Wednesday, so I thought I would get the budget work done before then, just in case the launch doesn't go as expected.

We have our water distiller running today.  We usually distill one gallon a day, M, W, Th, F and Sa.  That supplies our water needs through the week.  We don't consume the city water at all, so this water is for drinking, cooking and all of Isaac's water.  We add WaterMax back into the water to add nutrients and to make it alkaline.

My goal for this week is to also get veggies chopped up for salads.  I store each veggie in a container in the frig, so that they are ready to be used in a salad whenever we want one.  This isn't something I get done every week, but I would like to make it a weekly habit.  It helps us start out the week with good, healthy ingredients at our fingertips.

I pray that you have a good week.  Hopefully, the tasks we have completed today will help to make our week go a little more smoothly than it would without our careful planning.

Blessings to you,

Alesha

I’m back. I think.

On Tuesday, we were given two computers to use, while my laptop was being worked on: a desktop and a laptop.

I started working on the laptop on Wednesday morning.  It had been returned to factory condition, so it needed several updates, downloads, etc.

By Thursday morning, it was dead.  Neither the keyboard nor the touchpad worked at all.  I couldn't believe it!!!  Our computer guru buddy says he thinks it just bit the dust – literally just stopped working.  It was several years old, and evidently, I was just too much for it to handle…so it died to escape my computing skillz!

Sigh…

This morning, I began the same process on the desktop, which requires the same "bringing up to date" process.

If you see me online tomorrow, you'll know that all is well and that I haven't killed yet another machine!

Oh!  And the best news in my computer saga is that my laptop has been resurrected; my documents, pictures and spreadsheets restored; and it will be returned to me next Tuesday with 2GB of RAM!

Whoo Hoo!!!

Miracles do still happen!!!

Now, if we can just get that clothes dryer running…

;o)

Have a great weekend!  Here's a pic of my men from last Sunday:

Thankful on Tuesday

Well, our (virus-crippled) desktop decided to work this afternoon, and the keyboard is working, too; so I thought that a "thankful" post was in order. 🙂

My dad has our dryer taken apart in about 20 pieces and is working on the motor.  Yay!

Our friend is sending us a laptop and a desktop computer today, so that we will have working computers.  He is also going to persevere in removing my information from my laptop, so that not all will be lost.

Our other friend tried everything he knew to get it back up and running, but to no avail.  I am truly not greiving about the laptop; but being able to reclaim my documents, spreadsheets and photos would be a real blessing.

The weather today is absolutely gorgeous again!  This was Day #5 of my walking.  I walked about 10 minutes longer today, while keeping my pace the same.  It was a good walk.

I started this walking venture with some particular goals in mind, so I've decided to call my new project "Walking for Peace".  I feel the Lord doing a specific work in my heart, and I am using my time to think about and pray for others.

I have found a yummy smoothie that I enjoy after my walks.  You will find the recipe on the Hallelujah Acres website:  Flax Max Breakfast Smoothie

(Don't let the odd ingredients throw you – it is yumm-O!!!  I do substitute flax seed for the B-Flax-D, and use honey instead of molasses, simply because we don't have those things on hand.)

Isaac is doing well.  He has slept every night through, except one, for the past 2 weeks.  Whew — that is really something to be thankful for, isn't it?!!

Doug, Isaac and I enjoyed our time with our church's "Senior Patriots" on Saturday.  We had wonderful fellowship, humorous stories, beautiful music, a stirring message and a delicious meal.  I'm thinking that I will enjoy doing that every Saturday when the time comes that I am old enough to join. ;o)

Our Anniversary Sunday was a huge success.  Our final attendance count for our local Sunday service was 2993.  We also had services going around the globe, with missionaries and children's homes, in honor of our pastor's 40th anniversary with our church.

The decisions for salvation numbered 300+ which is really mind-boggling.  Only the Holy Spirit can work in hearts like that.  You read stories of it in the New Testament; but often we think that the miracles of the Bible no longer happen today.  However, we serve the same God Who performed those miracles.  Why wouldn't He do them again???

One of the greatest personal challenges for me is the prayer time preceeding our special day.  From Wednesday night to Sunday morning, the folks of our church sign up to pray for the service.  The prayer time literally continues around the clock.  I signed up for some late night (early morning) time slots, since Isaac is often awake at that time of night.  Of course, he decided to sleep through those night. LOL!  So, I had to set my clock to wake up to pray.  It wasn't easy, and I think that only the LORD Himself knows exactly what I prayed about during those sessions; but I woke up the next mornings refreshed and encouraged in the Lord.

I leave you with the only decent picture I have taken in several weeks.  The men of our church drove their classic cars in yesterday, and they were just gorgeous.  I got a picture of my pastor's car, that he has been restoring for many, many years.  She's a beaut, isn't she?

That's a Studebaker Hawk.  I apologize that I didn't catch the year.  I'm a girl, what can I say?  I just don't pay attention to details like that! 😉

I guess that's it for my "thankful" post.  I hope to be here more often, once we get these loaner computers up and running at our house.

Thankful on Tuesday

Thankful…

  • that Isaac's caregiver was able to come for a few hours today, even though it is usually her day off.
  • for faithful friends.
  • for the rain that is headed our way, and praying that the weather will not be too severe.
  • that my mom's dryer is working, even though mine died today.
  • for the lovely breeze while I took my walk this morning.
  • that I was able to go for a walk two days in a row!
  • for the stabilizing effect of the Scripture on my emotions.
  • that I found a box of new "old" toys out on the porch, and that Isaac is enjoying them immensely.
  • for air poppers, popcorn, salt, coconut oil and nutritional yeast – yummy snack!!!
  • for weather radios.
  • that our pastor will be celebrating his 40th anniversary at our church this Sunday.  We will be having a huge service, hoping to break our record from last year, and will be having an exciting, wonderful, FUN party for all the children and for all the young at heart, too, after the service!

I encourage you to find a few things for which to be thankful today.  It's amazing what that gratitude will do for your attitude and perspective.

🙂
