No real "managing" here…merely "maintaining."
Having an 8-week old puppy…
and no caregiver for Isaac today…
has had me cleaning up
after one or the other of them
all day.
It's a good thing they are both so darn cute!!!

Why is it that verses like this ~
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10
make me feel all warm and fuzzy;
While verses like this ~
He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Proverbs 18:9
make me want to squirm?
There are, after all, written one right after the other in this chapter of Proverbs.
I think some days, the Lord
gets tired of my quest for emotional inspiration,
and instead wants to
measure my obedience by the sweat of my brow!
My goal today: to work diligently. (The sweat is just going to happen on its own – it is, after all, July in Florida!)
My Mondays have been a little out of control for several weeks. I don't think I did much managing…I was surviving.
Surviving is good, but managing is better. 😉
Today I have several things on my to-do list. The first of those was to clean the bird cage. It isn't a very difficult or time-consuming job. I just put it off…for as long as I can. Shame on me, right?!!
So…I have listed it as a recurring event on my Monday's to-do list on my phone. Maybe that will help me stay on track with it.
I must remember, too, that the more often I do it, the easier it is to accomplish. It's just one of those jobs that I need to discipline myself to do in a better way.
If I don't mention it for a while, you will know I'm not doing very good at it. You'll have to ask me about it!
Ah…that should hold me accountable!!! 🙂
So, without further ado, here's Poppet!
"Welcome to my humble abode. Please do wipe your feet…we just put out new papers."
"Yes, yes, it is quite lovely, isn't it? I haven't lived here long, about 4 months, I guess. My caregivers decided I needed new furnishings earlier this year. I am delighted with it!"
"Please do make yourself at home…just stre-e-e-t-c-h out and get comfy. Plenty of perches for everybody."
"Please come back again soon…I'll keep an eye out for you!"
Y'all have a good Monday!
Alesha
Today's "managing" included the following:
I'm sure I'll fit a few more things into the day before it is over, like commenting on Facebook or watching our next Dave Ramsey dvd.
I might also work a bit on my coupons for this week…my grocery store's sales end on Wednesday and I think I might need to pick up some more Garden Salsa Sunchips while they are on sale AND while I have a great coupon!!! ;o) I have just discovered them and they are my new favorite thing!!!
I hope your Monday went well, and that you feel like you managed it, rather than feeling like you were mismanaged by your Monday.
Remember – it's just another day in the week! No need to panic if it didn't go quite according to your plan. God's mercies are new every morning, and when you wake up tomorrow, you will have exactly what you need for Tuesday!
Until then, rest in His everlasting, unflinching, evermerciful love for you today!
Alesha
Managing my Monday took me out of the house today!
Isaac's caregiver held down things on the homefront, doing some laundry and dishes, making our carrot juice for the next few days, feeding and caring for Isaac and giving Newton (the dog) his treats when he went potty. I am so blessed that my caregiver likes my pets! She even gives Poppet (the bird) a treat when Newton gets one. 🙂
I hit the road with my mom this morning around 11:00. We drove to Michael's so that I could pick up some beading wire to finish my current jewelry project. While there, I was able to take advantage of a sale on some silver plated components. Yay!
Next, we stopped at the grocery store. My mom usually shops at the Publix in town, which is located south of our house. Doug and I tend to shop at the Publix that is to our north. Since we traveled north to go to Michael's, Mama shopped at a "new" Publix today. We only had to backtrack for a couple of things, and their inventory is slightly different; but all in all, I don't think it was too difficult.
After we got home, I laid down on an ice pack for about 45 minutes before I took a trip to my chiropractor. Whew — I was in bad shape today. I was in quite a bit of pain before we did our shopping trip, so by the time we were done, I was truly miserable.
The chiropractor worked her magic, gave me a lecture and sent me on my way. (And I totally deserved the lecture, so I didn't even mind very much!)
Now this evening, my management is confined to whatever I can accomplish from a semi-reclined position here in my room. I ordered some pillowcases for my bed, shopped for Gospel tracts online, made a pillow and blogged. A little later, I plan to participate in my online Bible study, shop for a phone for my hubby and catch up on Facebook. (You have got to love technology, right?!!)
So, Monday has passed quickly, if painfully; and thankfully, once again, my God has been faithful to meet my every need. Praise the Lord for His goodness to me.
Blessings,
Alesha
I hope you are having a good day today.
Having suffered through many, many Mother's Days while struggling with infertility, I know this day can be overwhelming and painful for those who long to be in a loving relationship with someone.
I really can't do anything to make that pain any better, but I can remind you that Jesus understands your pain. He can help to ease it, if you will allow Him to work in your heart and life. His Word can offer you comfort and understanding; and His love can sustain you through even the most lonely days.
For those of you who welcome this holiday, I wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day!!! 🙂
My Monday started this morning about 7:30, when Isaac decided he needed some dry attire to wear. ;) By 7:45, I found myself flat on the floor, contemplating just what I had injured in my graceful tumble. I know, I know – how in the world do you fall down on a flat surface??? I don't know, exactly, but I offer this feeble explanation:
Somehow my pajama leg got tucked under my sock, which started my downward momentum, and said pajama leg also prohibited the "grippies" on the bottom of the sock to do their job properly – that of gripping the floor. I sort of pitched forward, grasped for a handhold, twirled around and plonked. Down. Hard. Quickly. On the floor. And then my head hit the gargage can.
Had you been a fly on the wall, I'm pretty sure you would have laughed.
Thankfully, Isaac is very merciful and did NOT! 😉
One of the reasons he may have felt less inclined than usual to laugh at Mommy is that I screamed at him on Saturday. Really loudly. When he head-butted my nose!!! He probably didn't want a repeat of that drama! I did hear my nose "crack" when that happened, but my former-boys-basketball-coach-husband's best medical diagnosis was "Eh…it should be ok."
😉
It is ok. I have a slight darkening under either eye, but it just looks like I've been sick for a week or so. And thankfully, I have some fabulous makeup that camoflaged it well.
So, Ike knows he'd better treat Mommy well today! :) And he has been…I got a very sweet Valentine's Day card from him this morning. :) I got one from my hubby as well, along with this cute little guy.
His name's Cassanova, of course! 😉
So, managing my Monday this week, is going to basically mean managing the pain, which isn't too bad yet, all things considered.
Isaac's caregiver is chopping veggies for our soup and our salsa, both of which will last us for a few days this week. Our dryer still isn't working right, but thankfully, my mom is right next door, and her dryer is working well. :) Plus, we were able to keep up with the laundry over the weekend, so we won't get behind with the dryer on the fritz.
I will be working on our budget a little later today. I usually do that job on Friday and then again mid-week, just so we stay on top of everything. My bank is launching on new website on Wednesday, so I thought I would get the budget work done before then, just in case the launch doesn't go as expected.
We have our water distiller running today. We usually distill one gallon a day, M, W, Th, F and Sa. That supplies our water needs through the week. We don't consume the city water at all, so this water is for drinking, cooking and all of Isaac's water. We add WaterMax back into the water to add nutrients and to make it alkaline.
My goal for this week is to also get veggies chopped up for salads. I store each veggie in a container in the frig, so that they are ready to be used in a salad whenever we want one. This isn't something I get done every week, but I would like to make it a weekly habit. It helps us start out the week with good, healthy ingredients at our fingertips.
I pray that you have a good week. Hopefully, the tasks we have completed today will help to make our week go a little more smoothly than it would without our careful planning.
Blessings to you,
Alesha
